Newcastle City Council: BEST2

best2

The Business Energy Saving Team project provides fully funded energy audits and advice, technical support and grant contributions to help SMEs and Voluntary/Community sector organisations reduce their energy use and greenhouse gas emissions.

This will help increase business resilience and adaptive capacity to meet net zero targets and support regional economic growth. The project is managed by Newcastle City Council on behalf of four local authorities.

Between 2023 and 2025, over 30 SMEs from a wide range of industries in Gateshead have benefitted from the advice and funding available. This is predicted to help those businesses to save a combined £360,000 on their energy bills over the next five years as well as safeguard existing jobs and provide SMEs with the confidence to create new jobs.

The project is currently open for new enquiries, with support available across 2025/26.
