Connected Voice: Digital inclusion

National research on digital inclusion reports show the north-east of England is one of the regions with a higher rate of digital exclusion, if not the one with the highest. Deprivation is one of the main factors that connects digital poverty and digital exclusion.
Supporting VCSE organisations on digital inclusion work means that their improved digital capability and infrastructure will positively impact digital inclusion for their population regarding health and wellbeing outcomes, and promote access to learning, leisure and economic activity. Digital inclusion activities, skill-building, opportunities, and development work can take many forms. The improvement of digital inclusion in one specific area of people's lives will also have an overall positive impact and improve digital inclusion in the other areas of their lives.
Since 2023, the project has been fostering collaborative working with cross-sector partners such as Gateshead Council, NHS, VCSE sector, industry, and research. The project has been supporting organisations working in Gateshead through tailored and flexible approaches in order to improve digital inclusion, with attention to digital accessibility, co-creation, and co-delivery.
Staff and volunteers are welcome to join the monthly online sessions of the Digital Inclusion Network, that will share a variety of digital inclusion information and opportunities. Book your place (opens new window).
