Report a missed bin collection

To report a missed bin collection you must confirm the following:

  • The bin was out by 7.30am. Check your collection day
  • The bin did not contain any contaminated items
  • There were no problems with accessing the bin
  • The bin was placed on the pavement area as near as possible to the kerb

What happens next?

Your report will be passed to the relevant team for investigation. If your bin has been missed by one of our crews and not for one of the reasons above we will return to collect your bin as soon as possible. Please leave your bin at its usual collection point.

If you are having difficulty moving your bin to the collection area, you may qualify for an assisted bin collection.

Contaminated items:

Recycling bin

  • General waste such as food waste, nappies, plastic films, plastic wrapping, black food trays, tin foil, shredded paper, polystyrene, wallpaper, and hard plastic
  • Cat litter and dog waste
  • Textiles such as clothing and shoes
  • Black bags and plastic carrier bags (empty or full)
  • Pieces of wood
  • Garden waste
  • Large electrical goods
  • Hypodermic needles

Household bin

  • Building material such as bricks, mortar, or rubble
  • Hazardous waste such as chemicals and asbestos
  • Large electrical goods
  • Material unsuitable for energy from waste, such as batteries, petrol, and paint containers
  • Clinical waste such as needles and dialysis waste
  • A very heavy bin which vehicles are unable to lift

Garden bin

  • Kitchen and food waste
  • Turf, soil, or stones
  • Any plastics
  • Pet fouling or cat litter
  • Nappies
  • Vacuum cleaner contents
  • Large branches
  • Metals, glass, paper or cardboard
  • Timber or planks of wood
  • General household waste
  • A very heavy bin which vehicles are unable to lift
