Benefit fraud
Report benefit fraud
Investigations into benefit fraud are no longer undertaken by the council. They are all now dealt with by the Single Fraud Investigation Service, which is part of the Department for Works and Pensions.
Department of Work and Pensions National Fraud Hotline: 0800 854 440
Benefit fraud includes people who
- have not declared they are working
- are deliberately withholding information that affects their benefits
- are living with a partner or spouse who works and has not been declared
- landlords claiming housing benefit for people who don't live in their properties
It is helpful if you can provide as much detail as possible when making any referral.
