NE Youth: Diverse youth offer in Winlaton and Barmoor

neyouth

NE Youth's project provides a diverse youth offer for young people delivered in Winlaton and Barmoor across 3 sessions:

  • Barmoor Inclusive Club, Barmoor Hub, 6.30-8pm every Wednesday (ages 13 to 25)
  • Barmoor Youth Club, Barmoor Hub, 5.30-7.30pm every Friday (ages 11to 18)
  • Winlaton Youth Club, St Paul's Church Hall, 5-6pm Junior session (11 to 13) 6 -7pm every Wednesday

Summary for 2023-2025

The youth sessions at Winlaton and Barmoor Inclusive Group have gone from strength to strength throughout the duration of the grant. A growing number of young people have engaged with and accessed the groups, participating in a variety of fun, inclusive, and educational activities. These have included awareness sessions on key topics such as gambling, healthy relationships, and healthy eating. Young people also enjoyed a range of trips, providing them with valuable experiences and opportunities they might not otherwise have had access to.

Barmoor Youth Group was a brand-new provision that quickly became well established, with high attendance from local young people. Participants have taken part in exciting and engaging sessions, attended trips, and supported a range of community events held at the centre. Due to high demand and differing age needs, the sessions were successfully split into junior and senior groups. This allowed us to tailor activities and discussions to be age-appropriate and responsive to the needs of each group.

Looking ahead: 2025-2026

NE Youth are committed to continuing the delivery of provision across all three sessions, building on the successes so far. In addition to their weekly youth sessions, they will offer a variety of trips and continue to develop their programme in response to Youth Voice and identified needs. Young people remain at the heart of everything they do, and they will ensure their provision continues to be inclusive, engaging, and empowering.
