Wardley Manor Country Park
Part of an on going project to create a Country Park on a large area of green space in the east of the Borough. Wardley Manor is a large reclamation scheme with grassland, tree planting and ponds.
The site includes Pelaw Quarry Pond Local Nature Reserve - a partially reclaimed former quarry supporting an established wetland and areas of herb rich grassland. Rare bee orchids are among the many delicate wildflowers that thrive on the thin soils of the site.
Paths across the wider site also allows the opportunity to make circular walks, cycle and horse rides.
Access from Mill Lane, Hebburn or from the Bowes Railway Path.
