24 March 2020
All schools are closed until further notice, except to vulnerable children and children of critical workers.
Vulnerable children include those who have a social worker and those with education, health and care (EHC) plans. It is expected that vulnerable children will attend school, so long as it is safe to do so.
Critical workers include NHS staff, police, farmers and food retail workers. A full list can be found on the Gov.uk website. Critical workers do not have to send their children to school if the child can be safely cared for at home. If alternative care can be provided, children should be kept at home to help limit the chance of the virus spreading.
Not all schools will remain open. Children may need to attend a different school during this time.
For further information, read thegovernment guidance on the closure of educational settings.
18 March 2020
Following the latest Government guidance, all schools will close their doors from the afternoon of Friday 20 March for most children, for the forseeable future. The Government has asked schools to make specific provision for vulnerable children and those children of key workers, for example health, care and the police.
We are awaiting further guidance on the exemption in relation to vulnerable children and the parents who are identified as key workers.
