Abnormal loads
Report abnormal load
Tell us about abnormal load movements on roads and bridges - we can work with you to give advice on the most appropriate routes.
Highways Agency
Use the Highways Agency ESDAL system (Electronic Service Delivery for Abnormal Loads) to notify abnormal load movements.
Hauliers carrying wide or heavy loads (above 40 tonnes gross weight) must tell us in advance. The law requires a minimum of two clear days notice to the Police, the council and bridge owners before moving the abnormal load.
For loads over 150 tonnes the notice period is different and hauliers need special orders. Visit the abnormal load movements application and notification forms page for full details of notification requirements for the movement of large or heavy loads by road.
