Homecare
Homecare is when you ask a care worker to visit you in your own home to help you with your personal care and some practical household tasks. This support can help you stay independent for as long as possible. You can arrange this yourself, or ask us to arrange support for you.
This help could include:
- getting in out and out bed
- bathing
- dressing
- feeding
- extra support to help you live at home as independently as possible.
How homecare works
To ensure a more consistent and familiar service, Gateshead has been divided into nine subzones. Each of these subzones has a dedicated care provider, meaning that carers assigned to your area will be more familiar to you, helping to build continuity and trust. This structure will also enhance communication and make it easier to adapt to your individual needs and preferences over time.

Contact Adult Social Care
There are many ways to contact the adult social care team, both online and over the phone.
We encourage people who can contact us online to do so, as it helps to free up phone lines for emergencies or for those who don't have access to or the skills to use computers.
