The Carer's Passport at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Gateshead

You may be eligible for the Carer's Passport if you are a carer for somebody who has been admitted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and they require support due to:

  • dementia/delirium or other cognitive impairment
  • having a diagnosed learning disability
  • requiring a high level of care (for example assistance is required with eating and drinking)
  • being a person you feel would benefit from having a carer present, such as those experiencing anxiety or needing reassurance in an unfamiliar setting
  • being critically unwell or at the end of life

There are a range of benefits to the Carers Passport. These include:

  • free car parking for the main carer of the patient
  • flexible visiting times, this can be discussed with the ward manager/nurse in charge
  • 20% discount at restaurants and cafes
