You may be eligible for the Carer's Passport if you are a carer for somebody who has been admitted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and they require support due to:
- dementia/delirium or other cognitive impairment
- having a diagnosed learning disability
- requiring a high level of care (for example assistance is required with eating and drinking)
- being a person you feel would benefit from having a carer present, such as those experiencing anxiety or needing reassurance in an unfamiliar setting
- being critically unwell or at the end of life
There are a range of benefits to the Carers Passport. These include:
- free car parking for the main carer of the patient
- flexible visiting times, this can be discussed with the ward manager/nurse in charge
- 20% discount at restaurants and cafes
If you feel that you would benefit from having a Carer's Passport, please speak to the Ward Manger or nurse in charge. For more information please visit the Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust website.
Contact Adult Social Care
There are many ways to contact the adult social care team, both online and over the phone.
We encourage people who can contact us online to do so, as it helps to free up phone lines for emergencies or for those who don't have access to or the skills to use computers.
You may also be able to find what you need on AskSARA, our online self-help tool that provides expert advice and information on products and equipment for people of all ages, who want to stay independent in and outside of their home.
