National Literacy Trust's Connecting Stories campaign has launched in the North East area. Connecting Stories is an Arts Council England-funded project to increase children and young people's access to literary experiences and books.
As part of the Connecting Stories campaign, Gateshead Libraries have partnered with Read North East to offer hundreds of free nature quest booklets to families. Nature Quest booklets containing puzzles, games and crosswords can be collected from any Gateshead Library until 4th September. Nature Quest encourages children to get outdoors and be active during school holidays.
The North East campaign is supported by publishers Penguin Random House UK and Knights Of, who have donated books across the North East area, and authors Sam Copeland, Burhana Islam, and Gabrielle Kent, who are supporting the campaign by championing reading and creative writing throughout the North East.
