Overview
We are responsible for emptying most street bins in Gateshead, including litter bins and dog waste bins.
We have regular schedules in place to keep bins from overflowing. These depend on the area and how frequently the bins are used.
Report a damaged street bin
If you come across a damaged or broken public litter bin, you can report it to us and we will try our best to repair or replace it as soon as operationally possible.
Unfortunately, we don't take requests for new bins.
Alternatively, you can call our customer service team on 0191 433 3000.
Report an overflowing street bin
If you see a bin that is overflowing, you can report it to us and we will try to empty it as soon as operationally possible. If an officer reviews the report and deems it urgent, we will get it emptied within one working day.
If the bin contains syringes, you should report drug equipment. This ensures it goes to the correct team and is dealt with as soon as possible.
