Support for young carers
If you are under 18 and help care for someone due to long term illness or disability there is support available to help you.
Carers Trust Tyne and Wear Crossroads Care Services work with any health condition and social circumstance to provide support and services to unpaid family carers. They have young carer support workers who can offer information, advice and practical support, and can signpost you to other services if they cannot provide the support you need. They also provide a CQC regulated domiciliary care service to families to give unpaid family carers respite from their caring role.
Carers Trust Tyne and Wear have been commissioned by Gateshead Council to conduct carers assessments for young carers.
Contact Adult Social Care
There are many ways to contact the adult social care team, both online and over the phone.
We encourage people who can contact us online to do so, as it helps to free up phone lines for emergencies or for those who don't have access to or the skills to use computers.
