Safeguarding Children and Young People in the Digital Age
Course details
Aim: To provide staff who work with children and young people with an understanding of the key risks posed by the use of digital technologies such as internet access, mobile phones and digital photography and strategies that can be put in place to manage these risks. The session will also look at the responsibility upon staff to act as positive role models regarding the use of digital technology.

Learning objectives
Participants will gain an understanding of:
- Threats to children online including sexual, political, grooming/exploitation and peer bullying
- Threats to technology and communication systems via malicious use
- Challenges of data protection and security
- The importance of adults who work with children managing their online behaviour and identities.

- Anyone who works with young people and children and/or parents and carers.
