Course details

Aim: The misuse of drugs and alcohol continues to have a significant impact on health and wellbeing of local residents. This session provides an overview of the key issues associated with Novel Psychoactive Substances (or Legal Highs) that are becoming more prominent within the region.

Learning objective

The session includes:

  • The scale, type and use of drug (including legal highs, information on overdose, and Naloxone) and alcohol within Gateshead.
  • Information on the risks associated with drug and alcohol misuse.
  • Approaches being used by treatment providers to combat drug and alcohol misuse. • Support available (including the role of Recovery Champions).
