Welcoming students back to Gateshead
Students will be returning to Gateshead town centre for the new academic year this week, with most arriving between Thursday 15th September and Saturday 17th September.
Around 800 students will be arriving over these three days to live in halls above the Trinity Square Gateshead complex in the centre of Gateshead.
The car park entrance for the halls on Lambton Street, close to the main Trinity Square Gateshead car park, is likely to be busy at times in this period.
Staff from the council's highways team will be available at the busiest times to ensure traffic keeps flowing.
There is a significant amount of car parking available in Gateshead town centre for visitors to use when they have dropped off students at their halls. Drivers can use the main Trinity Square Gateshead car park, or council car parks at Regent Court on Charles Street, and next to the Old Town Hall on Swinburne Street and West Street.
We ask that all drivers show patience and understanding, and keep junctions clear, to avoid generating additional congestion at busy times of the day.
