Becoming a MYP for Gateshead

Young people who want to create change in Gateshead are still encouraged to register their interest in becoming a candidate for their next Youth Parliament election.

Youth Parliament elections run every two years, so the next elections will be in 2024.

Anyone aged between 11 and 18 years old can stand in an election, but they must live, work for a minimum of 14 hours, or be in education in the Gateshead local authority region.

However, anyone who has chosen to run in the Gateshead Youth Parliament election cannot also run as a candidate in another constituency for the same year's election.

Find out more about the role of an MYP by visiting the UK Youth Parliament website (opens new window).
