Apprenticeships are a great way to earn a fantastic set of skills while doing hands-on work experience.
Gateshead Council's learningSkills OpenDoor Apprenticeship programme offers an Entry 3/L1 paid opportunity for young people aged 16 and over with a Learning Disability in either Business Administration, Customer Service or Catering for 30 hours per week or 15 hours if the apprenticeship is taken over 2 years. Apprentices are fully supported by the employer and a job coach to enable them to learn the skills they need for their job role. Travel training support is also provided along with weekly classroom based sessions to obtain a Maths and English E1 to L2 qualification that supports with their future employment. Further support into employment is provided. You do not require an Education, Health and Care Plan to access the apprenticeship programme.
