Post 16 education and learning
The below outlines the various post-16 learning pathways available to young people with SEND in Gateshead. Please note that there is eligibility criteria and access requirements attached to each pathway.
Children will receive transition reviews from Year 9 onwards to prepare to adulthood. Once a child leaves Year 11, there are multiple choices and pathways that they can take, these include:
- vocational courses at college
- apprenticeships/training
- supported learning
- school sixth form
- Gateshead Council learning and skills provision
- independent specialist provision
