Gateshead Access to Employment Service (GATES)

Our award-winning, free service increases employment for people with learning disabilities and neurodiverse people. Over 30 local businesses currently employ our clients in sectors from hospitality to factory work.

We can help you find a job which uses your talents and which you enjoy. We work with clients who are looking for part-time or full-time roles, in all areas of work. 

We can provide: 

• support with job applications and interviews  

• help to find short-term work placements that can improve your employability 

• support to travel in your local community for work  

• coaching when you start a new job 

• regular reviews with you and your employer to ensure your job is going well and provide advice on any queries 

• support with requesting reasonable adjustments from employers 

• advice on your career development and progression
