Members' Allowances Scheme

The Local Authorities (Members' Allowances) (England) Regulations 2003 provide that an authority must annually make a members' allowances scheme.

No member should be eligible for more than one SRA. 

The current travel and subsistence framework should remain in place and be adjusted in line with current HMRC approved rates.

Childcare and Dependent Carers Allowances should remain set in line with the council's home care and personal budget rates. The current rates are £15.32 per hour for qualified carers and £9.96 per hour for non-registered persons.

The council is required to have regard to the recommendations of its Independent Remuneration Panel before making its scheme. The council considered the report of the panel (PDF, 130 KB)(opens new window) at its meeting on 17 March 2016 and agreed to a scheme to be implemented from 1 April 2016.
