A welcome from our Chief Executive

It has never been a more exciting time to join the leadership team at Gateshead Council.

As the new Chief Executive, I know that we have an incredibly collaborative and supportive workplace. I first joined Gateshead in 2022 as the DASS so I have seen first-hand the pivotal work undertaken within adults and social care services, and how vital our talented and dedicated team are to the whole local community. In my role as Chief Executive, I will continue to champion adult social care underpinning a thriving Gateshead.

We strongly believe that the strength of Gateshead is the people of Gateshead. When faced with adversity, we come together and deliver for one another, working tirelessly for the benefit of our communities.

We're absolutely committed to making Gateshead a place where everyone thrives. So, you'll be joining at us at an interesting and challenging time as we aim to deliver transformational positive changes across adult social care.

We've a strong corporate plan outlining our vision for the next few years which looks to ensure that all stakeholders work to support and achieve our core aims which includes a focus on inequity and inequality, whilst championing fairness and social justice in Gateshead.

You'll be joining a strong leadership team who together ensure that we deliver the improvements needed to address the challenges facing adult social care.  We're taking some brave decisions in terms of making a positive difference and we're confident that these are achievable.   We know there is more to do, and this is where you come in as our new Head of Function.

If you can help us deliver a sector leading adult social care service then we'd like to hear from you.  You'll have a can-do attitude, lead and embrace change, have a continuous improvement mindset and be focused on doing the right thing, so that you and your team deliver positive outcomes for the Council, our people, our customers and our partners.

You'll possess high levels of resilience, be adaptive, have a creative mindset and be willing to collaborate with others and work in partnership.   As a Head of Function you'll be expected to provide advice to the portfolio holders, members and strategic partners.  An effective communicator, you'll build sustainable relationships quickly, have experience of working as a senior leader currently and have a vision of how we could be better.
