Adult Social Care service launching 'Consider Care' roadshow
Our Adult Social Care service are launching a series of drop-in events across Gateshead, our Consider Care roadshow, to inspire more people to think about a career in care. Throughout March, April and May, our friendly team will be travelling to community centres across the borough to shine a light on working in the sector. It may not always be easy, but there are loads of reasons why being a part of the adult social care profession is worth it. We want to share these with local communities.
Joined by a host of colleagues, we'll be offering informal chats over a cuppa about all aspects of working in adult social care: the benefits and challenges, the types of roles available, and the support on offer. It'll be an opportunity for people to ask questions and hear honest answers.
Councillor Michael McNestry, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, said: "Working in adult social care is an incredible thing to do. We're inspired by our teams every day and know that many people who are considering a change of career could be too. There's a role for everyone, chances to progress to senior levels and the ability to help change people's lives on a daily basis. I'd encourage anyone interested to chat with the team about if it could be right for you."
We'd love to speak to as many people as possible, including those who may not have previous experience in the sector or formal qualifications.
As one of our wonderful colleagues shared: "It's not so much about what you know, as you learn so much along the way. It's more about the type of person you are and whether you like to make a genuine difference to the lives of others."
If you're interested in coming along to one of our Consider Care sessions, or know someone who might be, you can register via our Expression of Interest form (opens new window). Alternatively, just turn up on the day.
