Leisure Review drop-in sessions

web size

In October 2022, it was presented to cabinet that Gateshead and Dunston Leisure centres were most at risk of closure, as a possible way for the Council to reduce spending.

Following the information we received from the public consultation, which ended on 20 December 2022, the recommendations changed to Birtley Swim Centre and Gateshead Leisure Centre being most at risk of closure.

As we recognise that residents and the community may only have attended the previous drop in sessions if the leisure centres they used were most at risk of closure, a further in person session has now been planned for Thursday 2 March, from 5.30 to 7.30pm at the former Birtley Children's Centre (DH3 2HG). All residents who have not yet had their say or attended an engagement event are encouraged to attend. Residents can also give their views online.

This event is predicted to be well attended and those attending may have a short wait to enter the room. People can arrive at any time between 5.30 and 7.30pm and there will be no formal presentations during the evening.
