Gateshead register office is closed to the public until further notice.
We are running a limited service and can only issue certificates which are required for urgent legal purposes.
We will endeavour to continue to process your applications but cannot guarantee a timescale. If you require an urgent certificate, please call 0191 433 3000.
We hold the records of all births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships in Gateshead from 1837 onwards. You can search our records online.
How to apply for a copy certificate
Download an application form below, and then apply for the copy certificate by post or in person. You do not need an appointment to apply for a copy certificate.
You can also contact us by phone to request a copy certificate and pay in person by credit or debit card.
