Gateshead Local Offer - Live 25!

Gateshead Civic Centre

Live 25! Brings together information for children and young people aged 0 to 25 years with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and their families.

The event is open to all SEND young people and the adults, parents, carers and professionals that support them to access services offering information, advice, guidance and support about navigating their future, including education, health, social care, transport and much more.  Across the day there are a series of talks, as well as a marketplace with stalls from services across the council.

No need to register, just come along.

Supported Internships

Speaker: Chiara Arrighi
Supported Internships are a full time 1 year programme designed for 16 to 24 year olds with an EHCP or SEND, aiming to progress interns into employment. We have a wide range of work placements to offer supported interns, come along to find out more.
 

Citizens Advice Gateshead: Living with Neurodiversity

Speakers: Nick Dixon and Charlotte Hodgkinson
The Living with Neurodiversity project was established to support individuals, as well as parents and carers, of those living with Neurodiverse conditions. Many individuals with Neurodiverse conditions also face additional health challenges, which can make it difficult for them to seek support. This is where we step in.We offer assistance with a variety of issues, including benefit form filling, challenging benefit decisions up to the tribunal stage, housing problems, income maximization, debt support, and more.
Each client is assigned their own dedicated caseworker, who will guide them through the process, empowering them and helping to build their confidence as they navigate the steps needed to resolve their issues.

Introduction to the Parent Carer Forum: an organised volunteer group of parents and carers of disabled children and young people who have a variety of special educational needs and disabilities living across the Gateshead borough.
 

Gateshead Access to Employment Service (GATES): Supported Employment

Speaker: Julie Todd
Award-winning, free service increases employment for people with learning disabilities or who are neurodiverse. Over 30 local businesses currently employ our clients in sectors from hospitality to factory work.
