Heworth to the Angel - Heritage Walk

This walk uses the 1895 map to explore the area of Gateshead between Heworth and where the Angel now stands. We walk past former wagonways, railways, collieries, quarries and a Roman road. There are stories of tragedies and love affairs, death and disease. The walk is about 6 miles. There are some hills.
As this is a linear walk we will return by bus and metro from The Angel. Some hills - please bring suitable footwear. As refreshments are not available on route you may wish to bring a packed lunch.
