Programme overview
This is a watercolours painting class for all abilities. You will be taught by an experienced tutor and supported to develop your knowledge and skills. Wellbeing is a key theme and learners are encouraged to relax and enjoy the experience of creativity. Discover the beauty and versatility of watercolour painting in this beginner-friendly course. Whether you're new to painting or looking to refine your skills, this course will guide you through the fundamentals of watercolour techniques.
Programme content
On this course you will be able to develop skills and confidence in using a range of watercolour techniques.
These will include:
- "wet on wet" to achieve soft blending of colours
- dry brush techniques to achieve texture and blending in your paintings
- graded washes to achieve realistic skies and elements of landscape
- line and wash
- development of colour mixing skills
We will be working from a range of different subject matter including landscape, seascape, portraits, animals and natural forms, you will have the opportunity to focus on subject matter which is of personal interest to you when planning your paintings.
Who this course is for
This course is appropriate for those who are beginners in the subject and also for those who have a little more experience in painting. Individual support will be provided to enable all learners to achieve their potential in each class.
Experience and knowledge needed
No knowledge/experience required.
Materials and equipment
A basic set of watercolour paints this can be a pan set or tubes. These can be purchased for approximately £6. We will provide expert guidance and inspiration. There will be additional materials at the centre for you to try, for example water-soluble pencils, pens and ink. These will be available for you to try to see if you like the effects which can be achieved.
Assessment
You will be assessed on the progress of your project work and development of individual skills during the course through one to one reviews with your tutor. You will identify the skills which you would like to achieve at the beginning of the course, and we will review these regularly as the course progresses.
