About
Henry's House is based in the heart of the town of Chester le Street and offers bespoke programmes to support pupils with social and emotional needs, including those who are disengaged from mainstream education.
Their focus is to prepare learners with life skills and work readiness by offering a programme that is built around nurturing learners to build self-confidence whilst continuing to learn and develop core skills.
Programmes are available for KS3 and KS4 pupils and include core learning in maths and English and PHSE integrated into practical and enterprise-based activities to develop and expand the interests and skills of individuals. Activities will include cooking, craft and design, fitness. They will be offering a therapeutic counselling session to the students which will be group sessions and individual where needed.
Henry's House is accessible. They deliver small group and 1:1 learning sessions which are designed to suit individual pupils.
Suitable ages ranges
Henry's House can accept children aged 11 to 16 years old.
Qualifications available
Henry's House are currently seeking approval to become an established NOCN centre to offer qualification in employability and enterprise and personal and social development.
However, qualifications in maths and English are available and will be discussed with individual schools.
About the teaching
All training is carried out at Henry's House in Chester le Street
Students can attend from locations including County Durham, Gateshead and Sunderland.
Teaching is delivered with a maximum ratio of 1 staff member to 3 children.
The provision is open from 9.30am to 2.30pm. Students can attend upto 3 sessions per week/15 hours per week. Short term and long term placements are available.
Transport is not provided.
Henry's House are able to provide urgent placements.

How to apply for a place for a student
You can submit a referral form and attend an informal visit to Henry's House.
Contact with schools
Once a student has began their training, schools will be contacted via email on a daily basis to confirm attendance/non-attendance.
Henry's House will also provide a weekly progress report for each student.

Henry's House have current public liability cover and insurance certificates are displayed.

Safeguarding
Henry's House have a compliant safeguarding policy in place which is reviewed yearly.
Pre-employment checks are carried out in line with guidance.
The provision has a designated safeguarding lead and there is regular training for all staff at the provision.
Health and safety
Henry's House have a health and safety policy in place with a designated member of staff trained to Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) standard.
They have full risk assessment for the premises and carry out regular fire drills which are recorded.
They have all required first aid equipment in place in line with RIDDOR procedures (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013).

Henry's House have a data retention policy in place which is reviewed regularly.
They have a privacy notice in place that explains how they collect, use and protect people's personal data.
