Bill Quay Training Ltd offer training in animal care, horticulture and farm maintenance in a therapeutic setting.
They offer training for children with and young people with mental health needs (SEMH) and SEND who may or may not have an EHCP.
They can adapt delivery and do accredited and non-accredited therapeutic training individualised to the person's needs. They have disabled access to most areas of the farm as well as the classroom and main building / indoor barn.
Suitable ages ranges
They can accept children in year 9 and 10 for non-accredited therapeutic training and children ages 14 and over for accredited training.
Qualifications available
Children can gain the following qualifications:
- NOCN accreditation
- Skills for Employment Training and Personal Development, Functional Skills, Maths and English skills
About the teaching
All training is carried out at Bill Quay Farm.
Students can attend from locations including Gateshead, Newcastle, South Tyneside and North Tyneside.
Teaching can be delivered as a 1 to 1 basis if needed or up to 6 children per session.
The provision is open from 10am to 3pm. Students can attend 5 to 7 days per week.
Transport is not provided.
Bill Quay Training Ltd are able to provide urgent placements.
The length of programme can be adapted to what is required for each student.
Pricing
Cost for sessions are as follows:
- 750 per full day session
- £15 per hour
How to apply for a place for a student
You can make initial contact by email or phone and complete a referral form.
Contact with schools
Once a student has began their training, admin will contact schools on a daily basis to confirm attendance/non-attendance.
They will also provide regular feedback usually half termly or more as required.

Bill Quay Training Ltd have current public liability cover and insurance certificates are displayed.
They also have current employee liability cover.
Safeguarding
Bill Quay Training Ltd have a compliant safeguarding policy in place which is reviewed yearly.
Pre-employment checks are carried out in line with guidance.
The provision has a designated safeguarding lead and there is regular training for all staff at the provision.
Health and safety
Bill Quay Training Ltd have a health and safety policy in place with a designated member of staff trained to Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) standard.
They have full risk assessment for the premises and carry out regular fire drills which are recorded.
They have all required first aid equipment in place in line with RIDDOR procedures (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013).
