Who are we and what do we do
Climate Change, Compliance, Planning and Transport is part of the Economy, Innovation and Growth Group in Gateshead Council. We are based at the Civic Centre, Gateshead and provide the following services:
- building control
- climate change
- environmental health
- environmental protection and enforcement
- licensing and trading standards
- planning (development management and policy)
- strategic transport planning, policy and active travel

What type of information is collected about you
We collect personal information to understand your needs and provide services. Information may include:

- property ownership
- vehicle registration
We collect the following special category data:
- criminal proceedings, outcomes and sentences
- medical information
How we collect information about you
We collect information about you from various sources to ensure that we meet your needs, including:
- when you make an application
- when you express a view in relation to any planning application
- when you report a breach or issue
- when you respond to a travel survey using a survey or consultation tool
This could be via direct contact with one of the services named above or via an online transaction service such as:

We receive notifications from third parties such as medical services. This is where a duty exists to pass on special category data, such as reports about infectious diseases and food poisoning.
Why we need your information
Our purpose for collecting your personal data is to enable us to:

We keep your information for as long as we need to provide services to you. We may also need to keep your information in accordance with legal or other obligations. Where we have no need to keep your data it will be securely destroyed. We keep a Record of Processing Activity (a requirement under the GDPR).
