Community-based housing support service roadshows to begin
To help make it easier for residents to contact our housing services, from late October and throughout November we are providing community-based housing support services across Gateshead.
To help provide more contact options, in addition to telephone, email and home visits, from Wednesday 22 October and throughout November, you'll be able visit a local council facility and chat face-to-face with a dedicated housing adviser.
Face-to-face sessions will be available at the following locations:
- Wrekenton: Every Tuesday at Wrekenton Hub, Wrekenton, Gateshead, NE9 7JR, 2 to 4pm.
- Blaydon: Every Wednesday at Blaydon Library, The Precinct, 5 Wesley Court, Blaydon-on-Tyne, NE21 5BT, 2 to 4pm.
- Leam Lane: Every Thursday at Leam Lane Hub, 129 Cotemede, Gateshead, NE10 8QH, 9 to 11am.
The on-site team will be able to provide support and guidance on everything housing related, including:
- help with finding a new home, and the process for applying
- rent and income, including support with accessing benefits
- reporting home repairs
- reporting anti-social behaviour
In support of the roadshows, Councillor Chris Buckley, Cabinet Member for Housing, said:
"We're listening closely to what our tenants are telling us — that being able to speak to someone in person, locally, really matters. We are investing in the services that make the biggest difference for residents. By providing community-based housing support, we're making it easier for people to get the help they need, in a way that works best for them."
The roadshows will run until the end of November, after which we will evaluate how we can further develop the service.
Alternatively, if you would like to contact your housing service via telephone please call 0191 4335353, submit an enquiry using our webform, arrange for a Housing Officer to visit your home, or meet them at your next estate walkabout.
