Fun ahead this summer

Young people from Harlow Green Primary School were on hand to help test out the new play equipment installed at Calderwood Crescent as part of our ongoing commitment to improving fixed play areas across Gateshead.
Since 2019, 55 fixed play sites have had improvement works carried out across Gateshead and this investment will continue to improve the play offer for young people throughout the borough.
Councillor John McElroy, Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport, said: "We are delighted to have been able to replace this play area as it is so important for our young people to have spaces where they can come together to play with family and friends, whilst being able to enjoy their local environment.
"I would like to thank the pupils from Harlow Green school for coming along and it was great to see them all having so much fun. Hopefully this will be a facility that young people can enjoy for many years to come."
As part of the work at Calderwood Crescent the junior and toddler equipment has been brought together into one zone so everyone can play together.
Other features of the fixed play include:
- A Basket swing, seesaw, rockers
- Play Panels/play car at ground level
- Trim trail
- Football goal posts
