LoveParksWeek2026

With more than 120 parks and green spaces across the borough, Love Parks Week is the perfect opportunity for everyone to get outdoors, explore somewhere new and discover what Gateshead parks have to offer.

From peaceful walks and family days out to sport, play and wildlife watching, Gateshead's parks and green spaces play a vital role in supporting the health, wellbeing and quality of life of local communities.

Gateshead is proud to be home to a number of Green Flag Award-winning parks, recognised among the best-managed green spaces in the country. Council staff work hard throughout the year to maintain parks and open spaces. Their efforts are supported by dedicated volunteers and community groups who generously give their time to help enhance and care for local green spaces ensuring welcoming spaces for everyone to enjoy.

Councillor Garry Thompson, Cabinet Member for Environment, said: "Love Parks Week is a great opportunity to celebrate the fantastic parks and green spaces we have across Gateshead and recognise the positive difference they make to our communities. These spaces provide places for people to relax, exercise, connect with nature and make memories with family and friends.

I would like to thank our dedicated council staff and the many volunteers who give their time, energy and expertise throughout the year to help care for and improve these much-loved areas. Their hard work ensures our parks and green spaces remain welcoming, safe and enjoyable places for everyone to use and appreciate."
