Residents urged to recycle more this Easter
Most Easter egg boxes and plastic trays can go straight into your kerbside recycling. Flattening cardboard boxes helps save space, and as they are made from recycled materials, they can be turned into new items such as cereal boxes or delivery parcels.
Please note:
- cellophane wrapping and sweet wrappers cannot be recycled at home and should go into your general waste bin
- coloured foil from Easter eggs can be recycled
- cards and envelopes can be recycled unless they contain glitter or foil
- wilted flowers and Easter centrepieces can be composted or placed in your garden waste bin once decorations are removed
Taking these small steps helps reduce environmental impact and ensures valuable materials are turned into new products.
For a full list of what you can recycle, visit our recycling page. Household Waste and Recycling Centres are open as usual over the Easter bank holidays - weekdays from 9am to 5pm, and weekends from 9am to 6pm. Visits must be booked in advance.
