Cumbria Waste supports community growth with donation to Skills 4 Work Gateshead

Cumbria Waste

As part of their ongoing social value commitments to Gateshead Council, Cumbria Waste has made a generous donation of £500.00 to Skills 4 Work Gateshead Limited. This contribution has directly supported the enhancement of The Mount Community Garden, a cherished green space managed by The Mount Community Association for the benefit of local residents.

The donation was facilitated through the Gateshead Exchange Platform, a local initiative that connects businesses with community needs. Cumbria Waste identified Skills 4 Work Gateshead's request for support on the platform, which included a call for gardening equipment, plants, and seating to improve the garden's accessibility and appeal.

Thanks to this donation- in- kind, two new wooden seats have been purchased and installed in The Mount Community Garden, along with additional garden accessories to enrich the space. A member of the Cumbria Waste team, even joined in to help assemble the chairs and shared insights into their role within the organisation, further strengthening the connection between the business and the community.

Tracey Wallace, representing Skills 4 Work Gateshead and serving as a Trustee of The Mount Community Association, expressed heartfelt gratitude:

We were very grateful for the support of Cumbria Waste. They funded us to purchase two seats for The Mount Community Garden and garden accessories to make it a much nicer space. Without the support of the business community, our charity could not offer the quality experiences and opportunities. A huge thank you.

This collaboration highlights the power of local partnerships in creating meaningful change. Through initiatives like the Gateshead Exchange Platform, businesses like Cumbria Waste are not only fulfilling their social value commitments but also making a tangible difference in the lives of local residents.
