Celebrating Kinship Carers in Gateshead with heartfelt community support

In a heartwarming show of community spirit, several local businesses came together in October 2024 to honour the dedication and love of Gateshead's kinship carers and their families. The events, held on Tuesday 8 and Thursday 10 October, were a celebration of the vital role these carers play in the lives of children and young people.

The first event, a breakfast celebration on Tuesday, welcomed kinship carers from across the area to enjoy a morning of connection and appreciation. Just two days later, the festivities continued with a delightful afternoon tea, specially arranged for both carers and the children they support.

These gatherings were made even more special thanks to the generous contributions from local suppliers. Simply Lunch, based in Gateshead, joined forces with our local Riverview Bakery, Greggs, and Tesco to provide an array of delicious baked goods. Their donations added a warm and comforting touch to both occasions, helping to create a welcoming atmosphere for all who attended.

The events not only offered a chance to enjoy good food and company but also served as a reminder of the strength and resilience within the kinship care community. Through thoughtful gestures and local collaboration, Gateshead showed its appreciation for those who step up to care for family members, often in challenging circumstances.
