Thanks to the dedication and community spirit of the Morgan Sindall Newcastle Construction Team, residents of Blackhall Mill are now enjoying a refreshed and more welcoming Village Green.

In a fantastic display of partnership and social value delivery, Morgan Sindall volunteers lent a helping hand to support Gateshead Council's initiative to improve local public spaces. The team generously gave their time and effort to remove old benches and concrete, clearing the way for the Council's Technical Services team to install two brand-new benches at the heart of the village.

Councillor Park commented on the collaboration, saying:

Many thanks to the team at Morgan Sindall and the Council's Social Value Coordinator for their support in removing two broken benches ahead of the new installations by Technical Services. I would also like to thank Sam Laing, Gateshead Council's Localities Coordinator, for helping to bring this together. Partnerships like this highlight the real impact of locality-based working. Overcoming barriers to these sorts of projects - such as cost - in this way is a great example of social value in action.

This collaborative effort is a shining example of how businesses can make a tangible difference in the communities they serve. By working hand-in-hand with Gateshead Council's Procurement, Localities and Technical Services teams, Morgan Sindall has not only enhanced a valued community space but also demonstrated their ongoing commitment to social responsibility and local engagement.

Sinead Moloney, Morgan Sindall's Senior Social Value Manager added:

Our site team and fantastic supply chain were delighted to help out. By working collaboratively with Gateshead Council we have been able to identify work in the community where we could play a role and actually make a difference.

Morgan Sindall's involvement in this project is part of their broader social value offer, which focuses on creating positive outcomes for communities through volunteering, skills development, and sustainable construction practices.

As the new bench takes pride of place on the Village Green, it stands as a symbol of what can be achieved when people come together with a shared purpose-to build not just structures, but stronger communities.
