Nissan volunteers lend a hand at Ceders Trust's Springwell Community Garden

In a heartwarming display of community spirit, a team of Nissan employees rolled up their sleeves and spent a day volunteering at the Ceders Trust's community garden in Springwell this June. The initiative was part of Nissan's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, aimed at giving back to the community and supporting local charitable efforts.
The volunteers were warmly welcomed by Alan Finn, Creativity Gardening/Horticulture & Sustainability Lead at Ceders Trust, who expressed his gratitude for the team's hard work. "For us, it was a great help having the volunteers get stuck in turning over raised beds, mending them, and getting the areas prepped for us to plant vegetables and flowers in," said Alan. "Their contribution has made a real difference."
The day's efforts not only revitalized the garden space but also helped reduce costs for the charity, allowing more resources to be directed toward supporting the community. Steve Bootland, one of the Nissan volunteers, reflected on the experience:
Volunteering has given me the opportunity to engage with charity organisations I'd otherwise not be able to. It's given me a feeling of benefiting the wider community and a greater awareness of the difficulties faced by members of our community. On this occasion, it helped improve an area which would have been costly for the charity, offering a slightly better experience for the users of the HUB.
The collaboration between Nissan and Ceders Trust is a shining example of how corporate partnerships can positively impact local communities. Through shared effort and a commitment to social responsibility, initiatives like this continue to cultivate not just gardens, but also stronger, more connected communities.
