Community spirit shines at Embells CIC Christmas lunch

Cumbria Waste

On Monday 9 December 2024, Embells CIC Community Support Project hosted a heartwarming Christmas Lunch event, bringing festive cheer and a sense of togetherness to the local community. The event was a testament to the power of collaboration and community spirit.

Despite a challenging start due to a power outage in the kitchen, the dedicated team at Embells CIC pressed on with determination and festive cheer. Their resilience paid off, as they successfully prepared and served over 60 two-course Christmas lunches, complete with delicious desserts.

This special occasion was made even more memorable thanks to the generous support of Cumbria Waste. In line with their Social Value commitments, Cumbria Waste sent two employees to volunteer their time and energy, helping to serve meals and spread holiday joy. They were joined by other enthusiastic volunteers from Connected Voice, Leam Lane Family Hub, and Age UK Gateshead, creating a vibrant and supportive team effort.

The event not only provided a warm meal but also offered companionship and festive celebration for many who might otherwise have spent the day alone. It was a shining example of how local organisations and businesses can come together to make a meaningful difference in their communities.
