McErlane Square

Overview

McErlane Square is situated in the east of Gateshead in Pelaw. It is close to Pelaw high street, which has many shopping facilities including a large supermarket, doctors surgery, and post office. There are excellent transport links in the area with buses to Gateshead, Newcastle and South Shields. Pelaw has its own Metro station and there is a neighbouring Metro station at Heworth Interchange.  

McErlane Square consists of 8 two-bed bungalows and 17 one-bed flats, each containing Tunstall emergency care units with pull cords and pendants. These are technology solutions that can help you to manage many risks around the home, and alert caregivers in an emergency. The building has two storeys, and there is a lift. There is a Scheme Officer on site Monday to Thursday between 8.30am and 5pm and Friday between 8.30am and 4.30pm, providing advice and support to residents.  

The block is operated by a fob entry system and there is a communal laundry room and communal lounge with a newly fitted kitchen. The communal lounge runs an activity schedule where residents can come together to relax and socialise.
