Overview

Cheshire Avenue is situated at the end of Durham Road just before it becomes Chester-le-Street. It has good bus links onto Birtley High Street and into Gateshead and Newcastle. It is a ten-minute drive to The Galleries shopping centre and located close to Lumley Castle.  

Chesire Avenue comprises of 29 one-bed flats. With four flats to each low-rise block, it allows residents to have extra security of the communal door and their own flat door. Each flat contains Care Call equipment which means they have 24/7 emergency care should they need it.  

There is a separate communal lounge on site which has a TV and dart board. Residents come to enjoy the coffee mornings and socialise with each other. The communal lounge also has a washing machine and dryer for residents' use. There is a large grassed communal garden area on site for residents. 

Cheshire Avenue is covered by a Mobile Sheltered Scheme Officer, who carries out daily calls, welfare checks, and cleaning duties. The officer is not on site all day but is contactable throughout the day to provide advice and support to residents.
