    Overview

    Croftside is situated in the south of Gateshead in Birtley. Birtley high street is a short distance away, with local amenities including shops, a library, and a large supermarket. The Team Valley Trading Estate is also close by with many shopping units. There are good bus transport links to Gateshead, Chester-le-Street and Durham in this area.  

    Croftside consists of 16 one-bed bungalows, each containing Tunstall emergency care units with pull cords and pendants. These are technology solutions that can help you to manage many risks around the home, and alert caregivers in an emergency. The bungalows have open-plan gardens and parking is available on site.  

    There is a Sheltered Scheme Officer based across the road at Birtley Villas, Monday to Thursday between 8.30am and 5pm, and Fridays 8.30am to 4.30pm, providing support and advice to residents.  

    On site there is a communal lounge and kitchen with a communal laundry room for residents' use. The lounge runs an activity schedule where residents come together to relax and socialise.
