Spring Festivals to bring Gateshead's parks to life this March and April
Gateshead is set to celebrate the arrival of spring with a series of three free, family friendly Spring Festivals taking place across Saltwell Park, Oliver Henderson Park and Barmoor Hub this March and April.
Held across three consecutive Saturdays, the Spring Festivals will bring colour, creativity and community spirit to some of Gateshead's best-loved green spaces. Each event will feature live music and performances from local artists, small fairground rides for younger children, hands-on family activities and workshops, character meet and greets, food stalls, and activities delivered by community organisations.
The festivals aim to bring residents together to love where they live, celebrate the diversity and vibrancy of Gateshead's neighbourhoods, and offer families an enjoyable and accessible day out.
Event dates and locations
- Saltwell Park - Saturday 28 March, 12noon to 4pm
Featuring music workshops and performances from local groups, family crafts and activities, interactive character entertainment. A special community parade will also take place to mark the beginning of the park's 150th anniversary year. - Oliver Henderson Park - Saturday 4 April, 12noon to 4pm
Including live performances from local artists, interactive character entertainment, spring themed creative workshops, family activities and food stalls. - Barmoor Hub - Saturday 11 April, 11am to 4pm

All events are free to attend, meaning families can simply turn up and enjoy the day.
Councillor Angela Douglas, Gateshead Council's Cabinet Member for Culture, Sport and Tourism, said:"Spring is a time of new beginnings, and these festivals are the perfect way to bring our communities together to welcome the season. Our parks are at the heart of life in Gateshead, and these events celebrate the people, creativity and culture that make this borough such a special place. I'm especially delighted that the Saltwell Park festival will launch the celebrations for the park's 150th anniversary year - a fantastic milestone for one of our most treasured spaces. I hope families from across Gateshead will come along, get involved and enjoy a brilliant day out."
The Spring Festivals are being delivered by Gateshead Council, made possible with funding from Kim McGuinness - North East Mayor and the North East Combined Authority and are part of Creative Places.
