Learning and Skills LDD Provision - Requesting donations for a mini bus
Learning and Skills LDD Provision, based in Birtley, support adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). They provide valuable opportunities for learners to develop skills, confidence, and independence through structured sessions and activities.
However, they are currently facing a significant barrier in delivering their full programme. With only limited access to transport and restricted funding for taxis, the team are often unable to take learners out into the community. This is especially challenging given their sessions last around three hours, limiting how far they can travel and what experiences they can offer.
To enhance and enrich learning opportunities, they are in need of a minibus with 16 seats or more. Access to a dedicated vehicle would enable more frequent trips, broaden experiences, and significantly improve outcomes for learning.
Ideally, they would prefer a minibus to be donated. However, they would also gratefully accept financial contributions towards this goal. For an 18 - seater minibus, it is estimated that approximately, £25,000 - £30,000 would be required to purchase a suitable second-hand vehicles.
Any support - whether through donation of a vehicle or financial contributions - would make a meaningful difference to the lives of the adults they support.
