Gateshead Town Centre - Requesting support for a roller disco and ice rink

Gateshead Council's Town Centre Manager is currently developing an exciting initiative to bring a roller disco and seasonal ice rink into Gateshead Town Centre, creating a vibrant, inclusive space for residents - particularly young people - to enjoy free, active experiences throughout the year.

Working in Partnership with Power Through Sport CIC, Gateshead Council plan to deliver an outdoor roller rink provision during the summer and October holidays, offering free skate sessions for young people in Gateshead and also exploring the addition of a winter ice rink, subject to sponsorship support.

Alongside the free sessions, Gateshead Town Centre will also host a series of 'Skate and Screen' events in collaboration with town centre businesses. These will be ticketed, with all profits reinvested into activities for young people in the town centre.

Gateshead Council are keen to work collaboratively with businesses who want to make a positive impact in Gateshead and are looking for support with:

Donations

• provision of water, fruit, and packed lunches for participants
• installation of festoon lighting and sail cover across the former Scotts Arches site
• a gazebo to provide weather cover for the rink
