Make Local Affordable - Requesting donations and volunteers for community garden at Highfield House

A group of residents in Highfield, supported by Gateshead Foodbank, are developing a Community Garden at Highfield House. They currently have two 1m x 1m raised beds and two tyres for flowers, and hope to grow herbs and seasonal vegetables that are fully edible and safe for children who access the garden. To get the project underway, they are seeking donations of topsoil, compost, herb and vegetable seeds or bulbs, and flower bulbs. As a small volunteer group, they would also welcome any practical support or advice to help them establish the garden.
