Young people leaving care - Requesting volunteers and work experience opportunities and donations to help support independent living

The Care Experienced Team support young people leaving local-authority care to move on into independence. This support includes teaching independent living skills and help with setting up a home. Our young people leaving care would really benefit from the following:
Donations
- financial donations towards an emergency welfare support which goes towards items they need for independent living
- white goods or any furniture for young people moving into their own tenancy - for example, a company offers a maximum of 20 microwaves per year. When a young person is moving into a property, we contact a store to collect a microwave (as we are not able to store goods)
- decorating equipment or vouchers to buy paint
- volunteer tradespeople who can help with setting up a home. For example, an electrician who agrees to fit electric cookers for young people when they move into their home
Work experience
- work experience
- work placements
- traineeships
- apprenticeships
