Ofsted praise for Gateshead's children's residential homes

Grove House staff celebrate their Outstanding Ofsted rating

Gateshead Council are celebrating the recent Ofsted reports of the Borough's children's residential homes. In the recent inspections all homes have been recognised for their quality of care by being rated Good or Outstanding.

Staff have been praised for helping children to develop their independence skills and maturity and for building a culture of trust enabling children to really thrive.

The children are progressing through experiencing stability, a sense of security, high quality personalised care and the focus that staff are giving them to develop as individuals.

Councillor Catherine Donovan, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said:

"As a council we are committed to ensuring that children in our care receive the very best care and support. We are incredibly proud that all our children's homes have been rated as either 'Good' or 'Outstanding'. This is due to the dedication and compassion of our staff, who work tirelessly to provide safe, nurturing environments where young people can thrive. Every child deserves the highest standard of care, and these ratings reflect our commitment to that goal."

Helen Fergusson, Director of Children's Services and Lifelong Learning at Gateshead Council said:

"These Ofsted ratings really show the commitment of our teams and the strength of our care model. We've worked hard to ensure that every child in our care within a Gateshead children's care home, feels loved, safe and supported. Achieving Good and Outstanding ratings across all our homes reflects our commitment to the very best possible care for some of most vulnerable children and young people."
