Council team to leave St Mary's in November
Last month, it was agreed that the council would hand over the management of St Mary's Heritage Centre to Tyne and Wear Building Preservation Trust. It has now been confirmed that the last day of operation by our Libraries, Arts and Heritage team will be Friday 17 November.
The centre will then close temporarily as we continue working with the Trust to ensure a smooth transition before the site reopens under new management. Thank you for your patience during this time.
Until then, the centre remains open to visitors as usual from 10am to 4pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays so please call in in to browse the displays. The bookshop will also be open, with many items reduced in price.
All private hire events are going ahead as planned.
The Tyne and Wear Building Preservation Trust are hoping St Mary's will start hosting events and activities early in 2024. If you are interested in hiring the space, please get in touch with info@twbpt.org.uk.
